TODD : CAROLINE HARVEY

Born 26th January 1926 in Toronto, passed away suddenly and with dignity on 4th February, 2006 at the Richmond Hospital. Predeceased by her husband, John, in 1987.

Carol spent most of her life in England as her parents returned to the U.K. when she was still very young. Carol and her brother Nick were evacuated during the war from Portsmouth to Winchester, where they were billetted at separate addresses. Carol's mother died, in tragic circumstances, in Leeds in 1941, when Carol was only 15 years old. After leaving school she worked initially at Lloyds Bank and then trained to be a nurse. She joined the WRNS (Womens Royal Naval Service) and enjoyed some of the happiest years of her life, travelling to Egypt, Malta and Cyprus. After leaving the WRNS, she worked as a medical secretary at the Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where she met her husband, John Todd. When he was appointed, in 1955, as a Consultant Psychiatrist at High Royds Hospital, Menston, the family moved to West Yorkshire.Following the death of her husband in 1987, Carol emigrated to Canada to join her daughter. She enjoyed nineteen very happy years in Richmond and took great pleasure in her grandchildren, and the breathtaking scenery and abundance of wildlife in BC. She was proud to be a member of both the Vancouver Naval Veterans Association and the Vancouver WRCNS Association.

Carol is survived by her brother Nick (Pam), children James (Anne), Suzannah (Andrew), grandchildren Ekaterina, Melisendra and Petranella, many relatives and friends. Carol will be remembered with great affection and love by all those who knew her.

The family wish to thank the staff of Richmond Hospital for their care and kindness.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond BC, at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday February 14th 2006. If desired, flowers may be sent to the Funeral Home; alternatively, donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
